چکیده

The multiple tumor suppressor gene l (MTS1) located on chromosome 9p has recently been implicated as a candidate tumor suppressor gene in many different tumor types. Cytogenetic analysis and deletion mapping studies have revealed that deletion of chromosome 9p occurs in a signif icant number of primary human astrocytomas. Using multiplex PCR with primers for exon 2 of MISI and for D9S196 from chromosome 9q, we have analyzed 78 primary astrocytic tumors for the deletion of MTSI. After controlling for the contamination of tumor samples with normal cells, homozygous loss of MTSI was found in 13 of 25 anaplastic astrocy tomas (WHO grade III) and in 27 of 46 cases of glioblastomas (WHO grade IV) but in none of seven astrocytomas (WHO grade II). These data suggest that MISI is an important tumor suppressor gene in the malig nant progression of astrocytomas.

Mutation Analysis of TP53 Tumor Suppressor Gene in Colorectal Cancer in Patients from Iran (Kerman Province)

Objective(s) P53 is an important tumor suppressor, which is mutated in later stages of many cancers and leads to resistance to chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to reveal mutations of TP53 in colorectal cancer in Kerman province. Materials and Methods A total of Forty-three colon cancer specimens as paraffin block or fresh tissues, which passed stage IIIA, were selected. Three exons 5,...

The Prevalence of P53 Mutations in Laryngeal Cancer in Kerman

Background &Aims: Laryngeal cancer is the second common cancer of respiratory tract, following the lung cancer. Carcinogenesis is a complex multistage process; molecular genetics has provided the evidence that activation of proto-oncogene and loss or inactivation of tumor suppressor genes (TSG) are involved in a large number of malignancies. One of the earliest significant tumor suppressor gene...

Homozygous deletions of human chromosome 3p in lung tumors.

Cytogenetic and loss of heterozygosity (LOH) studies have demonstrated that deletions of chromosome 3p occur at a high frequency in all forms of lung cancer. To clarify the role of 3p in lung tumorigenesis and to more precisely identify targets for positional cloning efforts, we have performed 3p deletion analyses (microsatellite and fluorescence in situ hybridization) in a series of lung cance...

Frequent inactivation of PTEN in prostate cancer cell lines and xenografts.

Loss of chromosome 10q is a frequently observed genetic defect in prostate cancer. Recently, the PTEN/MMAC1 tumor suppressor gene was identified and mapped to chromosome 10q23.3. We studied PTEN structure and expression in 4 in vitro cell lines and 11 in vivo xenografts derived from six primary and nine metastatic human prostate cancers. DNA samples were allelotyped for eight polymorphic marker...
